The worldwide phenomenon known as Blue Man Group is setting up shop at Universal Orlando Resort. Their unique form of entertainment combines music, comedy and multimedia theatrics that creates a blissful party atmosphere that people of all ages agree is a totally outrageous experience. Come see the new face of entertainment—Blue Man Group at Universal Orlando Resort. Opening night June 7th, 2007. Seating Orchestra (Zones 1 & 2) The entire theatre is considered to be stadium style seating and is very similar to a movie theatre. The center orchestra has a left section, a center section, and a right section. Each section consists of 11 rows, which range from Row A (first row) to Row L (last row). The side sections offer a great view and also provide interaction and participation for the customer. Rear Orchestra (Zones 3 & 4) The rear orchestra also consists of a center, left and right section. The center section wraps around the sound engineer station and, even though it is further back, offers fantastic views of the stage. Accessible Seating There will be at least ten seats available for handicapped accessible seating. The locations of these will be finalized when the theatre seating is completed. Currently we anticipate them to be located between the poncho section and Zone 1 with some additional locations between Zone 2 and Zone 3. Accessible seating is only available for a handicapped patron and a companion. If there is a party of four and one of the four is in a wheelchair, two of the seats can be sold in the accessible section while the other two seats need to be sold outside of the accessible section. Show Running Time 1 hour and 45 minutes with no intermission About Blue Man Group Blue Man Group is a creative organization dedicated to creating exciting and innovative work in a wide variety of media. Blue Man Group is best known for its award-winning theatrical productions which critics have described as “ground-breaking”, “hilarious”, visually stunning”, and “musically powerful.” These performances feature three enigmatic bald and blue characters who take the audience through a multisensory experience that combines theatre, percussive music, art, science and vaudeville into a form of entertainment that is like nothing else. People from all over the world, from all walks of life and from all age groups have become fans of Blue Man Group’s show in New York, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Berlin, Toronto, and London. Blue Man Group’s debut album, AUDIO was released on Virgin Records and was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Pop Instrumental Album. One reviewer called it “a glorious wall of sound.” Their second album, THE COMPLEX, was released in 2003 and featured a number of guest vocalists. In addition to live shows and music, Blue Man Group has created installations, “happenings”, “unusual ads”, and a number of television-specific performances for “The Tonight Show”, several of which were nominated for Emmy awards. Blue Man Group began at the Astor Place Theatre in New York City in 1991. The show was then known as “Tubes.” They are still performing regularly at the Astor Place Theatre. In 1995, Blue Man Group opened a second show in Boston, at the Charles Playhouse. Blue Man Group debuted in Chicago, at the Briar Street Theatre, in October of 1997. Blue Man Group opened a fourth show in Las Ve¬gas at the Luxor in 2000. The Complex Rock Tour, which took place in 2003, was an entirely different Blue Man production, created as a rock concert experience. In May of 2004, Blue Man Group opened its first international production in Berlin at the Potsdamer Platz Theatre. Blue Man Group opened a fifth show in Toronto at the Panasonic Theatre in June of 2005. In September of 2005, Blue Man Group closed at the Luxor in Vegas to prepare for a grand opening at The Venetian on October 10th, 2005. Blue Man Group opened its sixth theatrical production in London at the New London Theatre in November of 2005. Blue Man Group will open a new production at the Theater Fabriek in Amsterdam on December 16th, 2006. Is Blue Man Group appropriate for my child? We recommend the show for children ages 5 and older due to safety concerns (the show is rather loud) and courtesy to other patrons. It is up to the Box Office or Front of House Manager to admit exceptions. All children must have a ticket and sit in their own seat. We provide complimentary earplugs to patrons. If your child is sensitive to loud noises or frightened by loud music and strobe lights, this is probably not the show for them. If you are not sure if the show is appropriate for your child, we suggest that you see the show first and make a decision from your experience. The Poncho Section The first four rows of the theatre (Rows AA-DD) are the poncho section. If you sit there, you are provided with a poncho to wear, because the Blue Men work with some materials that splash around and can make a mess. Every¬thing the Blue Men use is washable and edible (but don’t eat it). The ponchos have hoods and cover adults just past the knees. People in these seats should wear casual wear, nothing that would need to be dry cleaned. The poncho section is the most “interactive” part of the theatre. I am sensitive to strobe lights. Is that a concern? Strobe lights are used during two portions of the show. People sensitive to strobe lights should know this when deciding whether or not to attend the show. (Strobe lights may cause seizures to people with epilepsy). If people sensitive to strobes do decide to attend the show, they should alert the House Manager when they arrive. The House Manager will work with them to help them leave the theatre before the strobes happen, if that is their wish. Parking The theatre is located between CityWalk and Universal Studios. All Universal Orlando guests need to park at the resort parking structure which connects directly to City Walk. Parking is free after 6pm on most evenings and $11 for the entire day. Merchandise Blue Man Group merchandise will be sold in the theatre lobby store at Universal Orlando or on-line at www.blueman.com.
